What are the indications that an individual had a mild heart attack?

Many believe that a heart attack involves intense and abrupt pain where an individual clutches his/her chest and fall on their knees. This is usually the scenario that is seen in TV shows and movies. In reality, there are many indications that a heart attack is occurring and some are less obvious and many will not suspect that the condition is already manifesting. In some cases, an individual can have a heart attack whether mild or massive without any warning signs at all. It is important that you are familiar with the following indications to determine if an individual is actually having a mild heart attack.

Chest discomfort or pain

The most common indication of a heart attack is discomfort or pain in the chest, usually in the center. This can last for more than a few minutes or can go away and recur later on. Oftentimes, the feeling is not pain, but discomfort from a squeezing sensation or pressure. There is also a feeling of fullness in the chest which is another indication of a heart attack.

Shortness of breath

Shortness of breath can be accompanied by chest pain or not depending on the case. Always remember that this can be an indication of a heart attack.

Presence of radiating pain

Mild heart attack

Shortness of breath can be accompanied by chest pain or not depending on the case.

Even though pain in the chest oftentimes accompanies either mild or massive heart attack, a pain that radiates from the shoulder down to the arm and into the jaw is another clear indication of an imminent heart attack.

General discomfort

The discomfort in various forms in the upper body can occur including the back, arms, neck, jaw and stomach are indications that a heart attack might be under way.

Flu-like symptoms

Conditions that are often linked with the flu including nausea and vomiting can also be signs of a heart attack.

Sense of doom

Oftentimes, the mind already knows that something is wrong with the body before the individual will realize it and take appropriate action. In some cases of heart attack, individuals have an impending sense of doom once they are having a heart attack.

Other signs and considerations to bear in mind

Some of the other signs that are linked with heart attacks include fainting, lightheadedness, clammy skin, cold sweats, dizziness and fatigue. It is vital to note that all, none or only some of these and other signs discussed can accompany a heart attack.

If there are more signs present, the more likely that the individual is having a heart attack. On the other hand, you cannot determine the severity of a heart attack from the signs alone. With this in mind, if the individual experiences symptoms of a heart attack, it is important to seek emergency care right away. By being familiar with the symptoms of a heart attack, you can take the appropriate actions since it can mean life or death for the individual.
