Two passersby resuscitated a man struck by a truck with CPR in Pitt Meadows. Matt Burnett and Jeremy Scholing, both 23 years old heard the impact of the crash as they were driving home to Abbotsford along the Lougheed Highway.
Prompt resuscitation effort
After hearing a bang, they found someone on the ground. They quickly pulled over and ran to the prone man who was not breathing.
Burnett and Scholing attempted CPR on the man after another passerby called 911. They were both instructed over the phone, as neither Burnett nor Scholing had performed CPR before.
Burnett stated that the man started to cough and show signs of life after several minutes of CPR. The paramedics arrived soon and transported the man to a healthcare facility.
Both Burnett and Scholing were shaken by the incident but are hoping for the best. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperating with police.
