👶 What Is Emergency Childcare First Aid?

This Emergency Childcare First Aid and CPR course is specifically designed for:

• Daycare workers and childcare staff
• Preschool and elementary school teachers
• New or expecting parents and guardians
• Babysitters and nannies
• Anyone caring for infants or young children

You’ll learn how to recognize and respond to a wide range of medical emergencies involving infants and children, including:

• Infant and child CPR (CPR Level “B”)
• Choking and respiratory emergencies
• Fevers, seizures, and allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
• Shaken baby syndrome and head injuries (concussions)
• Bleeding, wounds, burns, and other common injuries

All courses include AED training and are taught in a no-pressure learning environment by instructors with real-world emergency experience.

❓ Is this course approved for childcare workers in B.C.?

Yes. The Emergency Childcare First Aid and CPR course provided by Vancouver First Aid meets provincial licensing requirements for individuals working in licensed childcare facilities across British Columbia.

❓ What’s the difference between Emergency Childcare First Aid and Standard First Aid?

Emergency Childcare First Aid focuses on medical emergencies involving infants and children, while Standard First Aid provides a more comprehensive overview of adult and workplace-related emergencies. If you work specifically in childcare, this is the right course for you.

❓ Does this course include CPR?

Yes. This course includes CPR Level “B”, which teaches resuscitation techniques for infants and children only. If you need CPR for all age groups (including adults), you may want to consider CPR Level “C” or Standard First Aid with CPR-C.

❓ Is AED training included?

Yes, AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training is included in every Emergency Childcare First Aid course, at no extra cost.

❓ Can I take this course online?

No. This course requires in-person, hands-on instruction to meet certification standards. However, you will receive access to an online manual for review before or after your course.

❓ How long is the certificate valid for?

Your Emergency Childcare First Aid certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of completion. Some employers may require more frequent renewal—please check with your workplace or licensing body.

❓ Do you offer re-certification for Emergency Childcare First Aid?

At this time, re-certification is not available for Emergency Childcare First Aid. Individuals must retake the full 8-hour course once their certification expires.

❓ Do you offer private or onsite training?

Yes. We offer private group training at your location or one of our training centres. This is ideal for daycares, preschools, or parent groups. Please contact us at info@vancouverfirstaid.ca or call 778-709-9180 to request a quote or make arrangements.

❓ What happens if I miss my course or can’t attend?

If you cancel with at least 72 hours’ notice, you’ll receive a full refund. Transfers within 72 hours are available for a $25 fee. Unfortunately, no refunds are provided within 72 hours of the course.
