Standard First Aid is one of the most comprehensive courses offered by Vancouver First Aid. Also known as Intermediate First Aid, this course includes certification in either CPR-C or CPR-HCP/BLS. We provide this training at competitive rates in comfortable, convenient locations throughout the Lower Mainland, ensuring accessibility and quality education for all participants.
Participants enrolled in the standard first aid courses will learn a variety of rescue techniques using hands on equipment.
Participants in this course will gain comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in a wide range of first aid techniques. Key topics include:
Preparing to Respond: Learn a variety of rescue techniques using hands-on equipment.
The EMS System: Understanding the emergency medical services framework.
Check, Call, Care: Essential steps for assessing and addressing emergencies.
Airway Emergencies: Managing blocked or compromised airways.
Breathing and Circulation Emergencies: Recognizing and responding to breathing and heart-related crises.
First Aid for Respiratory and Cardiac Arrest: Administering life-saving interventions.
Wound Care: Treating cuts, scrapes, and more serious injuries.
Head and Spine Injuries: Safeguarding against potential spinal damage.
Bone, Muscle, and Joint Injuries: Providing care for fractures, sprains, and strains.
Sudden Medical Emergencies: Addressing seizures, diabetic emergencies, and more.
Environmental Emergencies: Managing heatstroke, hypothermia, and other environmental risks.
Poisoning: Identifying and responding to toxic exposures.
Course Cost:
Standard/Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C: $144.99
Standard First Aid with CPR-HCP/BLS: $149.99Â
Course Duration:
Approximately 14–16 hours over two consecutive days, with scheduled breaks for snacks, coffee, and meals. Our training centers are conveniently located near a variety of amenities.
Certification:
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a nationally accredited St. Mark James Standard/Intermediate First Aid & AED certification. This certification is valid for up to three years and includes CPR-C or CPR-HCP/BLS and AED training. Some educational programs and employers may require annual recertification.
Prerequisites:
No prior first aid knowledge is required. Participants must be at least 16 years old to attend.
Refunds, Transfers, and Cancellations:
No refunds are available within 72 hours of the course start date.
Transfers within 72 hours incur a $25 fee.
Refund or transfer requests made more than 72 hours before the course start date will receive a full refund.
There are no refunds for rescheduled events.
