Vancouver Terms and Conditions

Refund, Change in Registration, and Cancellation Policy

Candidates are eligible for a full refund or transfer to another course if requested more than 72 hours before the course start time. Refunds, registration changes, or cancellations will not be processed within 72 hours of the course start time. All courses are considered final sale once within 72 hours of the course start time. No refunds will be issued once the certificate has been issued.

Student Responsibility

It is the student’s responsibility to confirm with their workplace or school the specific courses and certificates they require. We strongly recommend that students verify with their employer or educational institution beforehand to ensure the course and certificate meet their requirements. If the student has registered for the wrong course, we do not issue refunds within 72 hours of the course start date or after the course has commenced. Additionally, no refunds will be issued once the certificate has been issued.

Requisites

Students are required to have a good understanding of the English language. If you do not pass the course due to a language barrier, you can still take the course again at no additional cost, provided you complete both components (skills demonstration and written exam). If you fail the course a second time, you will be required to pay the full course price again.

Appropriate behavior is required at all times during the classroom sessions. Please remember you are learning alongside others, and there is a strict timeline. If a student does not instructions from the instructor, or does not maintain appropriate behavior, they will be asked to leave the course. In such cases, all fees will be forfeited.

Students are also required to be able to perform floor work. If you have any disabilities, please consult with our customer representatives before booking the course to ensure you meet the physical requirements to become a first aider. Students are required to disclose any medical conditions or physical limitations that may affect their participation or the safety of the course. Failure to disclose such conditions may result in denial of participation, and the student will forfeit all course fees.

Upgrade Policy

Upgrades to a higher-level course are allowed within 30 days of taking the course. If more than 30 days have passed since the original course, the student will be required to pay the full price for the intended course. If the upgrade is done within 30 days and the course is taken within that timeframe, the student can pay the difference between the original and intended course price. Please note that with an upgrade, the student must attend the full course, not just a portion of it.

Non-Shows

Courses become final sale 72 hours prior to the course start time or after the course has started. If the student is a non-show, all course fees are forfeited. A “no-show” refers to a candidate who fails to attend a scheduled class or session.

Late Arrivals

If you arrive 10 minutes after the start of the class, you will be denied entry to the classroom. Refunds and cancellations will not be processed within 72 hours of the course or after the course has started. You will be required to pay the full course fee if you would like to retake the course.

Breaks Between Classes

Students are required to follow all class rules. If a student breaks the rules and takes a longer break, they will need to contact our office via phone or email to reschedule. A $25 rescheduling fee will apply.

Skills Demonstration and Written Exam Requirement

To pass the course, students must successfully demonstrate both the required skills and pass the written exam. The decision to pass the course is at the discretion of the instructor. If a student fails either the skills demonstration or the written exam, the course will be considered failed. In order to pass the course, both components (skills demonstration and written exam) must be successfully completed.

No-cost retake policy:

If the student does not pass the course, in order to qualify for the retake, the student must successfully complete both components of the course (skills demonstration and written exam) on the first attempt. If the student fails the course a second time, they will be required to pay the full course price again in order to retake the class.

Downgrade Policy

Once a course has been purchased, downgrades to a different course or a lesser course option are not allowed. Please ensure that the course you select is the appropriate one for your needs before making the purchase.

Administration fee:

All our prices include an administration fee of $25 used towards the initial booking.

Child and Guardian Policy

Babies are not allowed in the classroom at any time. Children aged between 12 and 16 years old are not permitted in the classroom unless accompanied by a guardian at all times. Additionally, the class must be scheduled during a weekday for students aged 12-16 with a guardian. A $25 rescheduling fee will apply if this condition is not met.

Certification

Upon successful completion, you will receive a provincial certificate that adheres to the latest CSA standards, which are required by workplaces and schools.

Lost Certification Card

There is a $25 fee for obtaining a replacement card, which must be picked up at the location where the course was taken.

Class Cancellation

We reserve the right to cancel a class if it does not meet the class size requirements set by provincial standards. In the event that a class is cancelled by the organization, students will be given the option to reschedule or receive a full refund. The organization is not responsible for any costs incurred by the student due to the cancellation, including but not limited to travel or lodging expenses.

Recertification

There are no refunds or transfers if you do not have a valid or non-expired certificate on the date of your course. You must have a valid certification to attend the course. If you do not have a valid certificate, you will need to purchase the correct course for your certification.

Online/Blended Courses

Once the course has been purchased, there will be no refunds for online/blended courses. If you need to reschedule the in-person portion, you may do so at no additional charge if done before 72 hours of the course start time. Reschedules will not be processed within 72 hours of the course. All courses are considered final sale once within 72 hours of the course start time. If you miss the in-person portion, there is no refund; you will need to purchase the full course again. No refunds will be issued once the certificate has been issued.

Force Majeure Clause

The organization will not be held liable for any failure or delay in fulfilling its obligations under this policy due to causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, government restrictions, pandemics, or other emergencies.

4. Medical Conditions

Mask Fit Testing Liability Release Agreement

This Liability Release Agreement (“Agreement”) is made effective as of the date of acceptance by the individual undergoing mask fit testing (“Participant”) and is entered into with Vancouver First Aid Ltd. (“Company”), the provider of mask fit testing services.

1. Acknowledgment of Risk

The Participant acknowledges and understands that the mask fit testing process involves a series of tests to ensure the proper fit of a respirator or other protective mask, and that such testing may involve physical activities, such as wearing the mask for extended periods. Participant voluntarily assumes any and all risks associated with the mask fit testing procedure, including but not limited to:

  • Discomfort from wearing the respirator or face mask.
  • Potential skin irritation or allergic reactions from materials used in the mask.
  • Any other adverse reactions during or after the mask fit testing process.

The Participant agrees to inform the Company immediately if any discomfort or adverse reaction occurs during the mask fit testing.

2. Waiver and Release of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Participant, on behalf of themselves, their heirs, assigns, and legal representatives, hereby waives, releases, and discharges the Company, its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and agents from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or losses arising from the mask fit testing procedure, including but not limited to:

  • Injury or harm caused by improper fit of the respirator or mask.
  • Skin irritations or allergic reactions resulting from the materials used.
  • Discomfort or injuries occurring during the fit testing process.
  • Any adverse effects following the fit testing procedure, including breathing difficulties or health conditions arising from the mask’s use.

This release of liability applies to all personal injury, property damage, or other damages that may occur as a result of participation in the mask fit testing.

3. No Guarantee of Fit

The Participant acknowledges that the Company makes no guarantee or warranty regarding the fit of the respirator or mask. The mask fit test aims to ensure the best possible fit, but it is understood that due to personal characteristics (such as facial structure, size, and shape), some individuals may not achieve an ideal or satisfactory fit. In such cases, the Company will work with the Participant to adjust the mask or recommend alternative solutions, but the Participant acknowledges that the final responsibility for ensuring the mask is worn correctly and providing adequate protection lies with the Participant and their employer.

4. Health and Medical Disclaimer

The Participant affirms that they are in good health and capable of safely participating in the mask fit testing procedure. The Participant agrees to inform the Company of any known health conditions, such as respiratory issues, allergies, or other medical concerns, that may affect the fit or use of a respirator or mask. The Company is not responsible for any medical condition or complication that may arise as a result of the fit testing procedure, and the Participant is encouraged to consult with a healthcare professional if they have any concerns.

5. Compliance with Instructions

The Participant agrees to follow all instructions provided by the Company or the testing personnel during the fit testing procedure. This includes complying with safety instructions, reporting any discomfort or issues, and ensuring that the mask or respirator is worn correctly throughout the test.

6. Indemnity

The Participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Company, its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and agents from any and all claims, demands, actions, and causes of action, including legal fees, arising out of or in connection with any claim for personal injury, property damage, or other damages related to or arising from the mask fit testing procedure, whether caused by negligence, breach of duty, or otherwise.

7. Acknowledgment of Understanding

The Participant acknowledges that they have read and understood this Liability Release Agreement in its entirety and that they voluntarily agree to be bound by its terms. The Participant further understands that by signing this Agreement, they are waiving certain legal rights, including the right to sue for damages resulting from the mask fit testing procedure.

By enrolling in this course, you affirm that you understand and agree to all the policies outlined above, including the liability release and acknowledgment of the course contents’ applicability outside the classroom. Any disputes arising under or in connection with this policy or participation in the course will be resolved exclusively through binding arbitration. The participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the organization, its affiliates, employees, agents, and instructors from any claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising from their participation in the course, including but not limited to those arising from their negligence, breach of these terms, or failure to comply with the policies outlined.
