A West Vancouver nanny saved a child with CPR. The nanny saved the life of a 19-month old boy in the Horseshoe Bay neighborhood.
Saving a life with CPR
According to Sgt. Paul Skelton, the young boy was left alone for moments but that was all the time he needed to reach a backyard swimming pool and tumble in. He added that by the time the family realized that the boy was missing and pulled him out of the pool, he was unconscious and not breathing. It was when the nanny took over and quickly started CPR.
Skelton stated that she continued with the chest compressions and rescue breathing until the child started to sputter and cry. The toddler spent the night in a healthcare facility and further tests are scheduled but the child is expected to be okay soon.
