A man who died after intentional fire received CPR

A man who died was given CPR after a fire that was intentionally set in Quebec City. The identity of the victim who was 69-years old has not been disclosed.

Unforeseen tragedy

The firefighters called in Quebec City police to investigate the fire in a residence on Bastille St. in the borough of La Cite-Limoilou.

The firefighters had found the victim unconscious inside. They administered CPR but he was declared dead shortly after being transported to a healthcare facility. No other person was injured during the incident.

A 57-year old man was arrested. He was expected to be interviewed by investigators from the police department’s major crimes squad. The suspect could be arraigned by videoconference at the Quebec City courthouse on a charge of arson causing death.
