CPR performed on man after evening fire

A man who died after a fire incident was given CPR. The firefighters were called to a house at 2951 Scott Rd. after several calls reported smoke and flames coming out the backside of the house.

Upon arrival of the crews, they entered via the front door and found a man on the floor. The crews were able to extinguish the flames and get the man out of the house before CPR was started. Sadly, the man later died while on the way to a healthcare facility according to battalion chief Bob Jones.

Jones believes that the man was living in the house by himself when the fire broke out in a bedroom near the back of the house near Hillside Mall. The root cause of the fire is still under investigation.
